Iv got a cheap system I put together recently, spec:

Athlon 1.0Ghz
Abit KT7A
512MB PC133
200GB Maxtor
GF4 MX440

Id like it to at least run older games like UT and Q3 smooth. Question is, should I switch to a GF4 Ti model (prob be the ti4200) or an FX5200 (mate has offered me one cheap). I know the Ti4200 will do the job very well, Iv had one or two in the past but is the FX5200 better? What do you guys think?

the fx5200 is quite slow tbh, its not worth upgrading unless you want to use the newer features, DVi? isnt the 5200 a dx 9 card?

mind you i ran nfs on my fx5200 works fine :D

thats not what you were saying when you were trying to sell it me  lol

So I was right then yeah, a ti4200 is a hell of a lot better, thought so.

Yes. The FX5200 is an awful card like all the other FX series. The GeForce 4 were the better card in my opinion - I had a GeForce 3 Ti200 and upgraded it to a "256MB Gainward FX5200" and it was rubbish. 0% performance increase.
