FX53 into AM2?

Been a while since I upgraded my mobo and am not sure about all this AM2 business.

On this page it says:

No. AMD introduced all new CPUs for the platform because socket AM2 (& AM2+) is 940-pins making old ones incompatible.

Apart from processor, you'll also need new RAM, i.e. DDR2

It would be better to either sell your system as a whole and start from scratch or use the Hard Drive/s, DVD ROM/s and case then buy a cheap P35 motherboard with something like the E2180 and DDR2. Oh and a PSU if needed?.

DDR2 is dirt cheap. The E2180 is in the region of about £45 and should clock to 3.2Ghz at least. I've had mine up to 3.5Ghz so far.

These are not exactly my options for you to buy but more of a guideline on the price so you can get a rough figure about how much money it would cost.
