how does the fx60 do with the 3dmark06 cpu test?
is it dog slow as it is on other comps?

if so why did futurmark make such a slow benchmark?
i know its to test stuff to the max but why make it unwatchable, they could have made it so it still tests hardware to the max without so much of a slow down

yea, its still unwatchable.

Pretty much 1fps instead of 0/1 lol.

I dont know how they can measure it accuratly like that. be much better if it was like the 03 cpu tests

Tom

Yeah dont understand it myself. It is a tad slow 0/1 fps. Perhaps they are not making another 3Dmark for a couple of years and think that newer chips and Gcards in the future will speed it up a little. But wait does 06 support DX10 if not I guess they will patch it (if poss) or we will see 07

do they not usually bring out a new 3dmark for every direct x version?

remember back in the day with the cpu tests on 3dmark 2001? they wer slow as back then, but having never seen 3dmark 06 i dont know how slow it is?

It's all a dastardly plot by the manufacturers - makes you think your kit is slow so you rush out and buy new stuff... :D

i thought my computer had crashed or broke when i first played it, i pressed reset!

when are we going to see computers that will run the cpu tests in mark06 at about 25fps???

isnt the idea behind benchmark software to see how well hardware will handle the latest and greatest software?

if thats the case why does even the latest and greatest hardware not run this section even reasonably?

maybe futuremark cant be arsed to make any more?

the CPU test does seem to like dual core machines, I wonder how it would handle multi core, if you got a machine with like 4 opti 470s overclocked you may see it hitting 5 - 10 fps

The CPU test likes dual core rigs because it's multi-threaded.

I think the first CPU test is complex AI, and the second is complex physics.

If you read the guff about it, it says the CPU tests run at least 3 threads, and as many more as the CPUs will allow, so if you ran it on an 8 way Opteron dual core set up (which would be 16 CPUs total), the CPU tests would run 16 threads.

Dual cores do well, because the 3 threads are split between 2 CPUs (thought of crudely as 1.5 threads/CPU), but single cores suffer because one core must handle all three threads.
