Running it at stock in a shuttle, according to coretemp both cores underload (orthos) are hitting around 68c each.

Now according to amd HERE the max temps should be 65c. Ive read however that the fx series do tend to run a bit hotter. The other dilemma is how accurate is coretemp? Theres probably a laundry list of temp testing programs all which will show somewhat different results, what exactly do we trust these days? (even xpc tools is showing different temps from coretemp)

Shuttle is an sn25p with 1 sata hdd 2 gig of ram and an x1900xt.

Coretemp is as accurate as you'll likely ever get. What does Coretemp say is the maxtemp for your specific chip, should say above the temperature somewhere?

That's the max temperature you should use it at then, given that it's Orthos that is hitting 68C it's unlikely any other programs will reach that sort of temperature.

my tcasemax is 59C.

Running orthos my opty 170 spent 20 minutes about 67c and even longer about 60c and still working ok (didn't smell burnt at all).

BTW I am waiting for better cooler ;)

Hm, s&m just reset my pc about 3 mins into the test. temps were under 60 as well.

looks like your cpu is unstable, snm is a proper cpu tester built from the ground up to test the cpu.

if you pc resets then its like jokester mentioned, more voltage needed, since your temps are still under 60c.

once voltage is sorted and if your cpu is still unstable, snm will error out and the window of snm will light up with a red border.

to make sure snm is doing its job properly, make sure you only select the fpu test in the cpu section on both cpu tabs, and in the settings make sure its set to use 100% cpu utilisation and turn off memory testing etc and on the hdd tab untick the hdd test.

then run snm. if your pc can survive snm fpu test for around 1-2 hours then its good as stable.
