Just got an email back from abit saying that the issue where the board will boot for a few seconds, power off and then boot back up again and work normally is a bios issue and they are working to resolve it. I read about a few others having the same problem with the ip35 chipset, just glad it should be fixed soon!

Yip SeanAbit said they are working on an alpha BIOS and the beta should be ready soon.

I'm having the same issue with my abit ip35. At least I'm not alone. When I first powered up the machine after putting it together I thought it was the thermal protection and got worried. Confusing at first but hardly a major problem.

yeah i crapped it when i first booted it up, i had the fan speed controller wedged in the roof fan so it was not spinning, powered down the machine (or so i thought) and as i removed the controller the whole thing powered back on. nearly lost a few fingers haha!

i've gone bios 11 - tweaked the clock thingy to be by the book instead
of the upped Abit amount - changed the DDR2 voltage to be 2.2 to
macth my ballistix and works perfect now

key is to flash it properly - the standard abit batch file is out of date
really - same one i used about 10 yrs ago . . .

changed it to :-

/py /sn /Wb /cd /cp /cc /CKS

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17769809

the Wb seems to be important for the boot block

and cks does the checksum - which must be good

bios' have sure changed

hope this helps someone

With the beta 13 BIOS if the board has been totally disconnected from power it will dual boot on the first boot after reconnection but shouldn't thereafter (unless disconnected from power again).
Also when saving new BIOS settings it will appear to stop & restart.
Both the above are normal behaviour for other P35 chipset mobos too.

Yeah don't download mint's link its for the ip35 pro. The abit site only shows 10,11 and 12.

So go to http://file.abit.com.tw/pub/download/bios/ip35/ and grab bios 13 (m630a13.zip)

The easiest way to update the bios is to use the abit flash menu found here. Then flash from file and point it to the .bin file from the bios 13 download.

HOWEVER once flashed you will have to reset the cmos with the jumper else it will not boot, or at least thats what mine does every time I flash it to a new bios. Its between the pci-e slot and pci ones, use the manual to find it if unsure.

I read somewhere that a lot of people were having problems flashing from the Flash Utility with the bios for this board.

I also have the P35-E and need to do the update.

13 has a few RAM issues & abit have deletd the links (although they've left the file on the ftps).
14 beta is out atm.
