hi there

will a 'N' draft usb wifi stick from a laptop increase my range over and above the normal G inbuilt wireless or does it have to be in league with an 'N' router to achieve the gain in distance/range.

thanks for any answers! :)

It is possible that it will make a difference because the antenna may well be better placed, however if this is the case then you may as well go for a cheaper 11G USB stick.

ok, thanks guys, guess i will have to try an N flavour stick, i am inclined to think also, that it would be needing N to N as Scooby said, for taking advantage.

i will try an existing G stick in it then , i didnt think of that jimmy, thanks, although i understand that inbuilt laptop wi-fi is normally amongst the best sensitivity anyway

cheers

Wrong way around. An 'N' router will approximately double the range of existing 'G' clients but not the other way around. That's the short story, for the long story click here.
