At the moment i've got a Gigabyte 7600GT silent pipe card, but i'm lookin for an upgrade. Got about £150-200 to spend.

Any recommendations and input is all welcome

(wish i knew about this forum before i bought the gigabyte card)

Then it really comes down to a noise/heat and relative performance in different games. I went with the X1900XT since I play Oblivion lots, but the GTO is a better call for other games. I'd check Tom's Hardware for the relative comparison on benchies, since it also depends on the resolution you intend running games in.

I mostly play cod2, BF2 (soon BF2142) never really got into oblivion (dont know why)

so it sounds like the GTO might be the one for me, i'll head over to toms and check it out

thanks for your input :)

noise isnt a problem for me as i use headphones/mic setup when playng games

What res are you running at, and what is the rest of your rig? Not that it really matters, the GTO will be fine at practically all resolutions, and will make the most of most rigs.

would be running at 1280 x 1024 res

rest of system as follows

AMD 3500+ (64bit)
1 gig ram ddr2 (upgrading to 2 gig within the week)
samsung spinpoint 80 Gb sata 2
GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo

currently using 7600gt (also gigabyte)

Looks like AA, AF and all the detail settings will be up to maximum for you then :)

But not AA & HDR plus the image quality isn't up to scratch compared to ATI. Also with eye candy on the ATI is the better performer.

True true, without desending into a 19x0 series vs. 79x0 series debate, overall performance depends on the game being played. And for the one's he lists I think GTO would be better. If he'd mentioned playing Oblivion, it would be a difference story...
