Hi everyone,
I've been lurking in the shadow here for long...always reading but never posting anything.
Now I have a thing puzzling me to the bones..and you my friends might help...
So here's the story:
I was on Bios 3201 and had a binned 5.0 CPU bought from OC.uk
Was charted here on this forum - overclock.net with 16-16-16-28-1t @ 3733 - 1.395v 1.08 IO 1.13 SA (in OP)...
CPU died...Changed CPU updated to latest bios 3504
Was a big No NO....Could boot at pretty much anything once I got the hang of it and what to turn up and down on diff Q_codes ..51..49...55...but passing memtest was a different story...
Downgraded to Bios 3201 and Voila...
Passed 1600% @3733 17-17-17-40-1t - 1.435v 1.22 IO 1.28 SA...
Now I am running more runs so I can tighten it up... with all timing very tight I found no difference in benches between 16-16-16-36-1t & 17-17-17-40-1t...only a bit more latency with the later.
But it PUZZLES me to my bones! why such an increase in V just by changing the CPU!!!
Can anyone shed some light in here please ?!
Are these V even safe 24/7 ?!
Note that the CPU is at stock/default at the moment so once I push it back to 5.0 I might need even more V on RAM side..
