Hi all, I have this memory https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-048-GS

G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit [F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM and I wondered why cpuz and other programs say it is pc3 10700 when it is supposed to be pc3 12800

This is how I have it running

is it just a case of it being reported wrong becuase I have AMD ? any thoughts ?

Just to add, I put the timings in manually in the bios as it came up with different timings automatically.

After doing a bit of digging on the net there seems to be a lot of people seeing the same with different ram and chipsets, so it could be a bios not recognizing it issue ?

because 1600mhz/12800 is its maximum rated speed, and you just have a mild-high overclock? so its showing the speed its currently at?

I think basically the ram is overclocked to reach 12800 speeds, the same happens with DDR2 8400 memory, CPU-Z shows this up as PC-6400.

its working at what you have set the frequency too in the bios when you overclocked the CPU.

Yes it`s working ok at the correct speeds but I just wondered why it says pc3 10700, but cpu-z says the same for plenty of others so as long as its not just me I`m happy:D

It's because the AMD IMC only supports a max of 1333MHz DDR3. Anything over that is an overclock.
