G.Skill RipJaw

The Rampage II Extreme is an X58 motherboard which works best with RAM in triple channel mode.

It will work with dual channel but better with triple channel.

You should be looking here for 1600MHz RAM or here for 1333MHz RAM.

I'm looking to buy 24GB of ram, It would triple channel...If I bought 3 sets of ram.

Two sets of this will cost you £14 less:

Crucial Ballistix Sport 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Triple Channel Kit

Or 3 sets of this if you want red:

G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Faster 1600MHz RAM.

I assume you've made sure that RAM with taller heat spreaders will fit with your CPU cooler?

What version of Windows are you running?

Obviously you need 64 bit to use more than 4GB but Home Premium 64 bit can only use 16GB.

For more than 16G you need Windows Professional or Ultimate.

I use XP Professional 64 Bit, I've been thinking about buying 24GB of ram but not took the plunge.
The cooler I use Is ASUS Triton 88, There Is room to maneuver, The memory Is for a graphics system I built.

XP Pro 64 bit can use up to 128GB of RAM so that's fine.

As long as the cooler doesn't interfere with the RAM slots, or is tall enough to fit the RAM underneath, then that's fine also.

I've been reading a few reviews the G.Skill RipJawsX, It's designed specifically for Intel Sandy Bridge platform.
Will this work with the X58 motherboards?

The only way that it's designed for Sandy Bridge is that it runs at a lower voltage. Around 1.5V compared to typically 1.65V before Sandy Bridge.

There's no reason it won't work on an X58 board and you'll be able to use a lower DRAM voltage.

It's nice to know this, It's narrowed my search down.
Either G.Skill RipJawsX or GeiL Enhance CORSA, maybe even the Corsair Vengeance.
Just need to think about It now, a big thanks Surveyor for your help, It's much appreciated :)
