Flicker. That horrible horrible flicker. I am trying to decide whats worse, tearing or flicker.....

It's fine normally, but if the game decides to run a menu or for some reason drops the FPS down (like in Shadow of Mordor, the FPS starts off at <30 I presume at the start of a game load) the flicker can be rather obnoxious. I feel a bit like NVIDIA pulled a fast one on me, being all like "Come on in! The new adaptive v-sync is lovely..." then when I do they are like "but watch out for that low refresh rate, lol".

It's poop in the swimming pool :(

Is this really what we have to put up with?

Not spent much time investigating it, I just disable gsync in games with variable performance especially eve online, etc. with lots of ui stuff that causes momentary fps drops.

Its great in games where your holding high FPS solid.

Seen some claims its an issue with 344.xx drivers possibly worth pushing nVidia on.

Largely fine for me, can't say I've noticed any flicker anyhow and I've put 12+ hours into mordor.

Drivers have been a bit flaky as of late, suspect its down to fine tuning Maxwell.

It happens during loading screens. Also I just started playing South Park: Stick of Truth and noticed a flicker occuring in that at times.

I have the ROG SWIFT btw. So its probably why I have slightly higher expectations XD but in Shadow of Mordor, sometimes the flicker can be pretty bad. It could be related to my setup I guess, I am running SLI and I know Shadow of Mordor does not support that properly yet (I think).

From what I've understood, G-Sync should basically just minimize the need for re-drawing or re-using "old" frames (which can in some cases cause tearing) by delaying the refresh cycle until there's a new frame completely calculated. I don't see any reason why G-Sync would introduce flicker...?

Or are you using the G-Sync with 3D? Or do you have Lightboost (or similar backlight strobe/scanning feature) enabled? I could understand how those two might bring trouble with G-Sync, when combined with low FPS.

i haven't noticed any flicker in any of the games i have played and i have played quite a number of them since i've bought the screen.

I've not seen any flicker running gsync either. Then again, I haven't gone below 30fps in any games.

Even with gsync, I consider anything less than 40 fps bad news anyway. It's also pretty well documented that gsync works 'best' at about 40fps and above.

Really **** framerates are still **** regardless of gsync. It's not a fix all for a poorly coded game, or a weak system.

wouldn't have said it better myself :)

Well its certainly not a weak system, have an X99 based, 16GB DDR4 + 970's in SLI. The flicker issue isnt unique to myself, if you type in G-Sync and Flicker you'll get other people noticing the same.

Nope. You can't use Lightboost at the same time. Also no, G-Sync just sets the screen refresh rate to the FPS.
