G Sync impression.

It lowers the latencey ive noticed. I can see it in Afterburners graph on my second monitor. Where i dont use Gysnc and allow my FPS to be unlocked i see the frametime jump all over and thats because of how the refresh rate works and the frames being drawn on the monitor. Gysnc variably changes the refresh rate to ensure there is no delay in the frame being drawn on the monitor, kinda like how when people cap their fps to the refresh rate eg 60Hz and 60FPS (if they can hold that ofc) as it drops it will cause latency.

Or if you cap the FPS to half the refresh rate of your monitor E.G. 120Hz 60FPS or 144 then 72FPS. I've noticed this helps as well. As the frame is being drawn the monitor is ready for it but when the FPS is up and down and the refresh rate is locked to 60Hz for example the monitor will not exactly be ready. Gysnc eliminates this. So as the FPS changes so does the refresh rate and it eliminates tearing too which removes the need for Vsync which also adds latency. This is what gives that smoother game play feel.

Fantastic tech and I definitely wouldn't be without it now, its very noticeable when you go back to a monitor without it.

Yes 120hz+ non G Sync monitors reduce the tearing when you're able to hit those framerates, but at 1440p there are not many new games where you are able to hit those FPS numbers.

Having switched between G-Sync and not running it, I really missed it and thought there was something up with my system. 120/144Hz helps though and I don't genuinely think I could ever cope with a 60Hz screen for games now.

Is G Sync better than 144 Refresh rate??

I'm stuck when buying a monitor I fancy a 1440 res monitor but not sure if a 144Hz is a better option to get, over a G Sync monitor at that resolution.

I disagree. G-sync doesn't work in BF1 for me and the tearing when I shift my view quickly is very noticeable.

Also as Shankly said it isn't a magic fix, I find it doesn't do a lot to reduce the impact of low FPS, at least not in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. At Ultra settings the game drops to 40-45FPS during the prologue sequence and it's horrible. In fact it's far worse on a 144hz monitor as the halving of framerate is very noticeable (elsewhere in the game it runs at 70-95), where from 60FPS on a 60hz monitor the change would be nowhere near as drastic. I'll probably try capping FPS at 60 to compensate.

Something not right there, g sync is working perfectly here with bf1. Not a hint of tearing and my mouse sensitivity is stupidly high.

On some setups (depending a bit how the framerate capping is done) if you have G-Sync On, V-Sync Off and capping framerate you may encounter situations where the game renders some frames very quickly and they get presented with tearing - even though most of the frames over a sample size are rendered without tearing. FastSync if it doesn't cause stutter can solve this or reverting to V-Sync On - G-Sync used to handle this a bit better but recent drivers seem a little glitchy in this respect.
