Bigger box!
Excuse my ignorance, I have to admit I know nothing about monitors beyond my recent googling...

I've never put much thought into the effect a monitor can have. I've always built my own rigs, and obviously the better the CPU and GPU you can sling in there the better, but unbelievably I've only just realised that the monitor might actually be a bottleneck!

So I've got all excited about the Homeworld remaster coming out, and I've got some new toys and decided I'd like a new monitor too.

I think a 24" will probably do, and I personally don't think I have the horsepower to run anything over 1080 anyway.

I have a GTX 670 and from the research I've done seems a 144hz G-sync monitor will be quite an upgrade.

My question/lack of understanding is this....

I have the monitor on the desk, and I also have an HDMI lead to the main TV in the living room.
The TV screen is set up to be a duplicate of the PC screen, simply so I can play some games on the big screen with a pad.

As I understand it, the G-Sync will synchronise the max output of the GTX 670 with the refresh rate on the G-Sync monitor, giving max possible frame rates and no tearing etc... right?

But the G-Sync monitor will have a much higher refresh rate than the TV (A year old Samsung HD LED TV), so does this mean there will be issues with the display on the TV, or will having the TV connected have a negative effect on the G-Sync?!?

I have googled, I'm baffled. Anyone? Exactly how much of the above is just gibberish?!

Cheers :)

Another question then, I've got a GTX 670 2 gig card. Am I wasting my time getting a monitor with a high refresh rate anyway?

I'm looking at various options, mainly the BenQ XL2420G 24, I've also looked at the AOC G2460PG 24 but the reviews aren't brilliant.

I've also considered the EIZO Foris FG2421 which is non G-Sync but has great reviews.

With the horsepower I have, am I wasting my time/money??

Thanks again

Nice one, thanks again dude.

Funnily enough you've just answered a question I just asked elsewhere. I'm probably wasting my money here right?

I might get the Eizo Foris FG2421 after all. It's not G-Sync, but it has great reviews, is almost £200 cheaper than the BenQ I was looking at and it'll be future proof for when I do get around to upgrading my GPU.

Thanks again, again :)

Edit.... Just seen the above too. I'm sure I can wait! To be honest I've re-jigged the room, got a new desk etc and was just keen to get a nicer looking monitor, and that's when I started looking into specs for an upgrade etc.
If I really am better waiting and upgrading both I will, no point in throwing money at it for the sake of it.
