Are there any good ones?

The ASUS PG279Q ROG Swift 27" 165HZ looked interesting but it seems like an old monitor now and there was/is issues with quality.

I really don't know anything about monitors but was always under the impression IPS was the best choice.

So I guess the question(s) is what G-Sync is best, is G-Sync worth it if you are sacrificing quality, what alternatives are there, ultra wide?

and another question...

If you buy a monitor and are unhappy with it, can you send it back or can you only do that if there is a specific fault?

I used the Acer equivalent for a time and it was brilliant for gaming. There are QA issues with all monitors it seems and some of these were not good but a good one is a great gaming monitor. G-sync has been the best gaming upgrade I have done for many years. Had nothing but a great experience with it. Currently using an ultrawide and it is very immersive for certain games. The aspect ratio is generally well supported now too.

You can return it if you are unhappy (14 days at OCUK I believe) but unless the retailer accepts whatever the issue is as a fault, you'd need to pay for shipping to return the monitor.

So it's a case of being lucky with the Asus?

Did you get a G-Syne ultra wide? a friend had an ultrawide a year or 2 ago and sold it as not many games supported it. Has that changed now? also the ultrawide seems very narrow (losing a lot on height)?

I currently have a ASUS PG279Q ROG Swift 27" 165HZ, this is the 5th one in 1 month and still not happy so im getting a refund from the manufacturer! yay!

not sure what i will go for next.

OK that's not a good sign then!

I probably should have mentioned this is to be used on a decent system with a 1080ti but I'm not sure what res/fps that is capable of really.

Does G-Sync really make much difference if you're not doing competitive gaming?

Why is it these monitors have a problem? I've not purchased a monitor for years but my last Dell IPS (non G-Sync) was excellent.
