Hey Guys,

I'm looking to get a new TN based gaming monitor. I know there are a few 144Mhz screen's out there, and some with G-Sync. But is G-Sync worth the extra cash? Or is a non based one just fine?

Oh, I own a titan x in case you guys are wondering:D

Get gsync definitely. It's that good, especially with one TX ie no SLI or stutter issues, and enough grunt to run 1440p with one card, but gsync takes care of any dips you might have.

I personally think gsync, and freesync when that takes off properly, is a revolution.

P.s. Rog swift owner here by the way.

Depends which monitor you buy... The Acer one that a lot of folks here recently bought is probably not worth the £700, due to serious backlight bleed and stuck/dead pixels!!

But having seen G-Sync in person, I am insanely jelly of those who do have it - If even *I* can see the improvement on something, it's definitely worthwhile... and G-Sync really shows, particularly in games like Borderlands 2!

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm currently taking a look at the Benq XL2420G. If I do decide to take the plunge, I'll be going from a dell U2913WM to this...mostly because of headaches and motion sickness playing certain games.

Hope I don't regret it.

Really? One of my other monitors is the dell U2913WM - it's one of the best ips screens out there for gaming! They also overclock to 75Hz, which might help with your motion sickness a little - give it a try, very easy to do.

Although the Dell is v good, I don't use it now for gaming at all with the Rog Swift taking that crown.

I totally forgot about overclocking a monitor. I'll give it a try! :)

I love my AOC G2460PG G-Sync

Cannot imagine gaming on anything else to be honest.

Well maybe a larger version, really fancied the ROG Swift but just couldn't afford/justify it at the time.

I tried it and it worked....it helped minimise my motion sickness!

Going to try play it out and see how it goes, but thanks for the tip:D

I can probably spend my money on a bigger ssd now lol

Have you got 75HZ without frame skipping wunkley and cjdavid?

I tried overclocking my 29um65 (similar panel) but just can't get past 60HZ without frame skipping.

It's well worth it. Going from 1080 to 1440, GTA5 actually feels smoother even though I now get less FPS :)

The newer TN screens (like the Swift and a few others) have a very good image. If you don't have a high end IPS screen next to it compare the only very noticable thing that lets it down is the viewing angle. Which is bad on all TNs. For gaming though, you can't beat TNs speed.

I've checked it again, I'm fortunate enough to not have that issue. This has saved me £400 :)

Going to put my spider sense for a 1tb ssd :D

I presume you are using nvidia's control panel?

I have to use CRU otherwise AMD CCC will only let me set 75HZ with a res. of 1280x1024 lol...

I wouldn't worry too much nexus. At first when I overclocked the dell to 75hz I thought it was really good and did make a nice difference. But then I got the rog swift and **** me - 120/144hz and gsync to boot and it's a different league. Trying the dell now, even at 75hz just feels like a blur fest

Yeah I am definitely going to be getting a 144hz IPS free/g sync screen, can't stand the motion blur on my 29um65 any more, just thought I would see what 75hz was like first but nope, not going to be able to :(
