Hey guys im really curious

Im running 1440p with a 980ti on a Dell 25" U2515H and a 1080p monitor on the side for overclocking programs like afterburner.

Some games still struggle to keep 60fps vsync and i'm considering getting that new shiny dell with gsync.

Will gsnc make much of a difference if im struggling for 60fps?
will i notice a big difference from ips to tn?

I also have a 980ti and a 1440/144hz gsync monitor.

I will just start by saying that Gsync is amazing. It is an instant improvement over whatever you are running now.

On the subject of a 980ti and framerates at 1440, i persoanlly find that tweaking settings to get minimums around 90fps gives me the best balance of taking advantage of the 144hz monitor and visual quality.

For many games, nvidia do a tweak guide that shows the difference in IQ and fps that each and every setting makes, so you can see which settings cause the biggest drops for the least image difference.

I have both TN and IPS side by side, and head on i dont notice a difference between the two once setup nicely - the one thing you have to do with these TN gsync monitors is use NVCP to drop the gamma to about 0.8 and it makes a huge difference.

Whatever settings and frame rates you go for, gsync does make for a big improvment over not running it.

you will notice the difference, i have that Dell g-sync and comming from normal 60fps 1080p to this with g-sync on even if games are running 70 to 80fps you get a nice smooth experience, for example The Witcher looks stunning

I have one and run a 970. Limited FPS to 94 (Skyrim glitches above that) via EVGA Precision X.
Not seen a drop under 50fps yet (AC:S, XCOM2, Witcher 3 on high settings).

GSYNC is a fantastic addition.

I have a 980ti and the Dell gsync monitor and they make a great combination.

It removes the need to keep a constant 60fps allowing you to turn on some of the nicer visual effects. In games such as The Division and AC Syndicate I aim to keep the FPS around 60 (normally 50-70fps) and let the gsync just smooth it out. Faster paced shooter games I try to run at 120fps or above.

It doesn't work miracles however, big FPS drops you still feel.
