Hi guys,

I've done abit of googling and i'm abit bummed to find out that the 970m does not support G-Sync to an external display if the laptop uses Optimus. Kind of misleading seeing as its listed as G-Sync compatible on the Nvidia website. Is this correct?

Set up is as follows:

Alienware 15 970m > Displayport out > Acer Predator

The issue is that the G-Sync settings just will not appear in my Nvidia control panel at all. My PC has no issues when connected to the display (not at the same time obviously)

I've tried disabling the intel gpu in device manager and installing fresh gpu drivers with DDU and no luck.

Whole reason I got a miniDP to DP cable was for this, and it seems i've wasted some cash.

Have you tried contacting nVidia support about that?
I suspect that a proportion of people having both a g-sync capable laptop and a g-sync capable screen is quite small, I'm sure they want to pus hthe feature out so it may simply be a bug that can be fixed via a driver update...

thanks for the reply xchaotic, abit more googling suggests its a limitation in the technology as the intel chip is the one connected to the display. for gsync to work the geforce chip needs to be able to talk directly to the display and not through the intel chip. oh well its not a massive deal, fallout 4 is running smooth as butter on it anyways. first world problems really. thanks :)
