G-SYNC upgrade on G751JY/JT now available!

I have heard it will be more expensive for UK customers. No set price but tbh I would expect £100 or so....

It's good that they are offering this though it really does make a huge difference.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

We're now being told that it's only available to USA now, with no comment as to if or when it will be available to other regions.

I've got a G751JT myself and there's no way I'm sending my one away to get something done that I could quite easily do myself, had Asus provided me with the firmware update tools directly.

Not impressed.

Yeah, unlikely that will happen though - people would just share it then - Asus want to cash in. At least the upgrade is an option, if EU support ever get the Memo that is - none of the EU offices know anything about it or they believe it's for the USA only.

They physically check the display and replace it if necessary. Not all the displays fitted to G751 can run a guaranteed 75Hz with G-Sync. It's easier for them to offer an upgrade service rather than having to deal with possible issues due to user upgrades not working as expected.

I'd read otherwise; that all of the IPS displays for the G751JT/JY were good for anything up to 100Hz. I know my once certainly is! :)

Not all of them did though my original JY would flicker the screen at 75Hz. My later one was fine at 120Hz.

They are just covering any issues by doing it as a send in service. Tbh if it's £100 or less I would have it done as tbh G-Sync makes as much difference as adding an SSD in my opinion. I could not be without it now.... :)

I suppose that's part of the problem for me; I've never experienced G-Sync so I've no idea what I'm missing out on!

If the service is confirmed for the UK I suppose I might consider it.
