G1 970 to 290X lightning :)

How far have you been able to push the card?

Got a bit to do yet before I even start gaming on it. I want to get a decent OC on my CPU first and I've never done it before.
Then after I've got a stable OC I want to do a fresh OS install to completely get rid of all the lies and deceit, eeerm I mean nvidea stuff.
Then I just want to game a bit.

Like I said I don't get much PC time so it'll take me a bit.

Lol, understood,
nice one.

What overclock did you manage out of the LE? As I'm guessing they aren't very good clockers?
Trying to decide what to get still

Decsions decisions, I didnt think the LE would clock that high, even more tempting.
Thanks for the reply :)

This si the reply I got off Damo in CS
The "LE" versions run slightly slower than the standard Lightning OC version I believe that's the only difference.
So I presumed they were cherry picked with the better clockers being the normal ones

Yes of course, tbh I was expecting it to be barely over standard, but then they do use 2 x 8 pin connectors and a 6 pin for a reason

You'd have to be very unlucky to get one that's that bad. Even so, I'd still take the Lightning over any of the current 290X's just on how well it's built and the coolers plenty man enough for when overvolting.

Main reason I opted for the lightning was the cooler. I'm sure its the coolest, quietest out the lot.

go on, tell us how....

Hahah!

This nVidia/AMD thing just makes me laugh to be honest. I've owned both, AMD and Nvidia. For a normal gamer there's barely a difference between the two. Unless you're going into serious clock speeds and all that sort of stuff.

When playing, having a 970 and a 290x next to each other i doubt you'd be able to see a difference.

But, the AMD guys can rub it in about having the full 4GB i suppose ;)
