G11 or Eclipse II

Thinking of getting a new keyboard to go with my new MX 518. Both the G11 and the Eclipse II are about the same price.

Which do you guys recommend of the two? And for what reasons.

Other option is to wait for the Eclipse III and see how much it costs.

How wide is it? i know it's wider than standard because of the extra keys but i have a small desk so it might not leave me enough room for the mouse.

Well take a normal standard sized keyboard, then add about 4 inches onto the left of it where the macro keys are. Also its about 2 inches more at the top with all the multimedia controls. Then the palm rest adds even more, if you decide to use it.

It's massive, but totaly worth it if you have the space.

yeah the g11 is big

i have used both and prefer the g11 for everything

typing/gaming is excellent on the g11 and the macro keys are brilliant for games / overclocking and in my case video editing

I'm intriegued by the macro keys being useful for overclocking, what have you set them to do?

just simple stuff really
like i say - i get much more use out of them when video editing than anything else to be honest

one is set for cpu overclocking
so im not wasting time in desktop when testing for stability
G1 = start up prime and load my cpuz/everest and coretemp

second is set for graphics overclocking
G2/G3/G4 = implements different rivatuner overclocking profiles

third set
G5 = gpuz/hw temps monitor/benchmark [for stress/stability testing]

i use some others for benchmarking

like with crysis i set up one to open the crysis bench tool with the required settings for the ocuk results list

and all the associated programs needed for a valid screenshot

I have the G15 revision 1, I love this keyboard specially the macro keys. I use the macro keys mainly for gaming.have you thought about getting the newer one since its smaller? (G25 revision 2) You get a nice lcd display
