G15 - V1 vs V2

Indeed.. I bought a desk a couple of months ago with a keyboard tray (didn't really think about it at the time :p), and my G15 doesn't fit on it... heh

Ordered a G15 last night as I wanted to get in before the V1 stock runs out.
Never spent more than about £4 on a keyboard before so quite a big step for me.

V1 all the way :)

I have the samsung 226bm 22" monitor in black with silver trim, my PC has cool blue lights and the G15 v1 with its awsome light blue glow is a perfect match. I might have to order another as a spare as its being superceded:).

Its great playing in the dark and being able to see the keys. I guess this counts for the v2 too.

I wonder if the v2 could be modded to have blue lights. I guess it would take a lot of soldering tho

Enjoy the keyboard

there was a performance hit when i played an online fps game....keeping a high stable fps was needed in that game.

maybe with todays dual core/quad core cpu's and the latest drivers things have changed(i havent tested with my current setup or drivers).

going back just over a year keeping the drivers installed just caused slow down...i did fps tests with and without the drivers....was almost a 10%hit.
I have an A64 3200+, currently at 2.45GHz though the result at stock is the same. In ever benchmark and game I've tested, running the software or not makes no difference what so ever. Perhaps there are some other issues with your system.

LCD looks smaller too.
It is. But it is the same resolution.

naaa i tested it more than once and it was a game that was bottlenecked by cpu alone(rtcw multiplayer)....i had my system and config tweaked as much as i could for that game so there was nothing really running that didnt need to be...networks were disabled whilst gaming .....even 1394 net adaptor interfered believe it or not....maybe its because i had it optimized for the game so well that on a normal setup it would have had little effect where as on mine i could see every little thing that was affecting smooth game play...i didnt even use surround sound. i may sound like a nut but smooth gameplay was key in that game.
even my memory was underclocked...less fps but smoother gameplay overall so worth the sacrifice of the fps.
in rtcw its more about tracking your opponent so keeping a lock on him is v.important....hard to do if the players movement is jerky yet very easy when smooth.

there was nothing wrong with my system as a whole as i believe i had smoother gameplay than most if not all on that server.

thats ^^ not my setup no more though....core2duo and 8800gts now and i dont play any online games so i guess i will give the logitech drivers a go again.

you wont regret it. Very nice board and many things are possible with the lcd.
Also blue looks 100x better than orange.

i like the look of the new version, will match my g5 mouse, and my bro has the original version which is quite big plus, itll be a vast improvement from my 20 quid logitech media elite that misses keystrokes so often

I own the V1 keyboard, initally I though oh the V2 is nice, but after closer inspection, I will stick with the V1

V2 would be my preference. Never much liked the look of the V1, hence I don't own one.

I actually prefer the colour of the V2 keys, makes a change from the usual blue. I tend to use the red backlight on my Eclipse 2, so not a massive departure from that.

So, if I were to buy one, the V2 it would be.

Been playing a bit with this over the weekend. Definitely seems very slick although I've not done much with the LCD or profiler yet. It's cool being able to have the cpu/ram usage monitor up even when running fullscreen apps. I'm sure the USB hub will come in handy too.

The great thing is the keys just have the right sort of spongey 'feel' like my keyboard at work, meaning that I can type slightly faster compared to my old logitech multimedia keyboard.

As an added bonus, I even managed to justify the expense to my fiancee as she was impressed with how swanky it looks :) Makes a change from "MORE memory?!" or "You're not looking at new graphics cards AGAIN are you?!!?"

I have the v1 and i agree its great for all round use and typing,

However the screen may aswell be dead cause next to no games use it, and it becomes even less usefull in x64, im dissapointed in game support and i dont see how a V2 could all of a sudden bring developers to use this screen

Finally, orange backlight sucks !

what about that board, im thinking of getting it when it comes out. three diff backlight colours and brightness settings

looks the nuts !
