G15 - V1 vs V2

I've got the G15 V1 and couldn't imagine gaming without it.

While the V2 is nice, I just don't see the point. I play WoW a lot (too much) and those extra buttons are godlike.

Sure if I had the V2 I could make Macros....but if I was going to write macros what's the point in getting a keyboard with extra keys?

Personally V2 isn't V2 in my eyes, it's more V0.5...only having 6(18) Extra Keys instead of 18(54) cannot be seen as an "upgrade" in my eyes.

Can anyone tell me what the wrist rest is like on the V1 version of the keyboard? I have heard it isn't so good, and this is an important point for me, as I'm assuming with the keyboard been so wide, it is hard to find a replacement, especially one that clips onto the keyboard so that it looks neat. Is it soft, or hard? What is it that people don't like about the rest?

I'm going to try and buy one of these keyboards while they're still available, as it seems the V1 has been totally discontinued. Do you know if any shops have these keyboards on display so you can try them out beforehand?

Cheers,

Simon

Just to follow up on this (as I bought one).

The v2 is god. Logitech have made a brilliant keyboard even better. The size is a lot handier and the LCD screen is at least 5 million times better.

There was no learning pattern with the keyboard either, which was unusual. :)

Got a V2 for Christmas and i love it to bits :D The only thing i can see being a complaint is the lower number of G keys but for me the 6 you get is more then enough. People saying it looks tacky clearly haven't seen the keyboard in the flesh, the orange back light looks awesome imo as does the LCD screen and its surroundings. Much better then the V1 screen which just looks tacked on :o

Had the V1 for ages all in all a very nice keyboard, then the USB cable went faulty and I decided to get a V2. I am not sure why but I deffo prefer the V2 feel more of a solid keyboard.

No matter what though, orange stays a very ugly colour.
The ugliest about my V1 G11 imo is the orange numlock/capslock and scroll lock leds, and the orange m1,m2 and m3 buttons.

Blue on the other hand, is my favourite colour.

I'd prefer the V2 for its reasonable size and curvy shape, although for the price I'd expect multi-colour backlights tbh. Still not convinced that a gaming keyboard is worth it, maybe I'm just not hard core enough to deserve one.

So you have to set all those macros for different games seperately? That'll be a major pain in the backside, not worth the hassle unless you "specialise" in a particular game I suppose.
