g20 trouble

I have to say the BBC coverage is a bit one sided, watching it you'd think that the whole summit was about Obama. They barely mention the other leaders.

That Twitter stream will give you a better overall view than the BBC will.

On Radio 4, it seems to be all about Gordon Brown! Obama only received a passing mention; even Sarkozy got more coverage.

He's responsible for making sure that proper risk management procedures are in place across the whole company.

And the main reason why loads of banks lost loads of money was due to a risk that had been considered. At the time, no-one in the industry thought that the risk of loads of people defaulting on their mortgages was a likely event, which is partly why the ratings agencies gave the CDOs such good ratings. The risk was acknowledged as being high impact, but very low likelihood. Any good risk manager will tell you that you ignore them in favour of the other high impact, but much more likely risks. You cannot remove risk from a business, all you can do is look at what you've got and spend money accordingly.

Obviously, in this case, the risk materialized, and the impact was bigger than anyone had previously estimated. Is that the fault of one person? No. Would they do any different again with the same information available? Probably not.

I'm sorry, I haven't read through the whole thread. Is this true?

It seems to be one person's opinion, but I can't find anything else about it in the news, on Snopes, or in these forums. I watched it live and don't remember it. Is this just one person trying to stir up some BS?

edit: the article doesn't seem to say what I heard. I heard Obama DISRESPECTED the Queen by grabbing both hands in a handshake gesture, which is supposed to be inappropriate. I'm not too familiar with the formalities behind meeting the Queen, but I know I darn well that I would if I was ever presented the option. I, though Republican in nature, doubt that Obama would make a mistake like this.

probably traditional like a handshake is with westerners, I've seen bush bow before and he did't get picked apart for it.
