g20 trouble

Brilliant, did anyone just catch the BBC News 24 coverage when they asked the protester what he was protesting about? The guy didn't have a clue, apparently the government is "screwing everyone over". I don't see how I am being screwed over?

If anything I am being screwed over by protesters as I am unable to visit my clients today around the bank area! Idiots!

You don't get it. One man didn't bring down RBS. There were some bad decisions taken by the board as a whole which have recently caused the company to lose a lot of money. This is the same board that over the past few years have been making the company loads of money.

By fixating on this single guy, you're only removing credibility from your argument. If you want to debate the issues, then debate the issues. Stop jumping on the idiotic sensationalist bandwagon.

No you don't get it. As Chief Executive Officer he had a duty to the shareholders of RBS not to take excessive risks with their investment so that the company remains a going concern during the recession part of the economic cycle. By any measure you choose to take, he completely and utterly failed at that. No-one has a greater responsibility for the health of the company that the CEO. He was happy to take the rewards when times were good and the excessive risks he took looked like they were paying off. Funnily enough when the chickens came home to roost though he still thought he should be rewarded for it.

Ask yourself this: if you started up a new bank and wanted someone to run it for you, would you gloss over the fact that Goodwin took RBS to the brink of bankruptcy and simply glow with the money he made in the previous years?

One of the core issues at hand is the culture of greed prevalent in the city that has caused this mess. By debating Goodwin's failure and his reward for failure we are debating the issues. If people in this country really cannot see why this issue is so serious then there really isn't much hope left for this country.

Heh the Climate Camp is quite cool, bit like an impromptu carnival although lots of smelly looking types.

Bank is a bit mental at the mo though, there was a bizarre moment when loads of people turned and sprinted away causing a domino effect, standing there with people sprinting by you is quite a surreal experience, lol - turned out it was nothing and everyone turned around and ran back :p

Maybe they spotted some printed £50 notes :D

Now they are smashing the windows of the banks. Complete idiots.

Idiots?

GOOD FOR THEM , Smash the place left right and center !. Atleast they are doing something, unlike a lot of you just sitting there complaining about the banks and the government.

Ah great, I have to get the central line to liverpool to get home this evening. Stupid G20 conference. Haven't they heard of video conferencing?

Erm..?

Aside from the fact that I haven't complained about any banks or the government, I don't think they realise the irony that RBS is essentially publicly owned.

Yes because we all know smashing things up is the best way to get your point across... Kind of like when a toddler has a tantrum...

Maybe he forgot his Daily Mail, so he had nothing to quote from.

Bunch of thugs. Yes, the economy's in trouble, we get it. We now have both a broken economy and lots of broken windows. Very mature and helpful.

and who do you think is paying for all this..the council tax payers of london, the same people who will have to pay for the cleanup as these protestors dont seem to be able to put their litter into a bin ( a bit ironic seeing as some are them are protesting about the environment)

they are doing nothing at all to further their points of vierw or change the way things are done

I've heard a few people saying that the building they are smashing up isn't even a bank anymore, and was/is up for sale :D
