I've put a G3258 in my other system with 8GB RAM and a Z97P D3 but it won't OC passed 4Ghz

I upped the voltage to 1.3V and it won't boot

Could this be because I didn't change any of the others bios settings

I did some reading around and it seems people were able to OC this chip without issue

what loadline calibration did you use? that will add extra voltage ontop of 1.3v

try manually setting pci/cpu clock to 100,then try a 44x cpu multi and high loadline calibration

try around 1.28v then or 1.3v

I left loadline on default, so I should set PCI/CPU clock to 100, try a 44 multiplyer and then 1.28v/1.3v loadline calibiration

Should I keep cpu voltage on 1.3v

Is it crashing / freezing or just hitting high temps?
Also i presume you're doing it through the BIOS and not using the OC Software within Windows?

I managed to get 4.3 on the SW but not tried doing it in BIOS. (mainly because i have no clue what i'm doing lol)

hmm. sadly i can't offer much advice on that front. I know some chips were a lil funny about their OCs but that's generally when trying to push for 5ghz.

I'll have a hunt online for some decent guides to see if i can work it out and will see how far i can get.

can either use a fixed cpu voltage or offset

if fixed try 1.28v and set loadline calibration to medium, see what that does,if it crashes try loadline on high

You should be able to do 4GHz on stock volts.

What's your cache ratio at? Try 40x CPU core ratio and 39x cache. What's the BSOD code you're getting?

what was the bsod code?

download whocrashed and see

it will be either 0x000000101 or 0x000000124 or similar

101 is usually not enough cpu v,124 can be not enough memory controller voltage or not enough cpu v

This is from the BSOD earlier on when using real bench

The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

yh 124,not upto date on haswell so idk what they label memory controller as

id only try one or two clicks above what auto uses for now,if it keeps 124 bsod'ing then set back to stock and try more cpu v

might be called analogue/digi io not sure though

the bugcheck code is the 124 error
