g3258 not starting on Asus z87 pro latest bios ?

I sold this motherboard to somebody and told them it would be compatible with a g3258 processor, they bought the new cpu but couldn't get it to work,
it was giving error code 00 on the LED display, I updated the bios to the latest, I think it was 2103, no luck, assumed the cpu was DOA, but I then tried it in my mITX z-97 board and it worked !

Since I was unable to get the cpu to work on his machine I said he can borrow my i5 4670K for now, so I need to find out why this pentium is not working so I can get my i5 back.

Anybody seen this happen before ? I have no idea what else it could be
 
I had an idea, the guy has a Z-97 board in his main system with a 4690K,
he could try using the 4690K on the Z87 board I sold to him to see if it compatable with any of the new processors, if it is then I could persuade him to install the pentium into his z97 board for now
 
OK problem have been solved, the latest bios '2103' does not work with the pentium processor, an older bios beta '2003' before it can work

this is bad programming on asus part, I would not expect it from a mission critical part such as a motherboard bios
