G3258 to mid range i5?

Mainly gaming... The g3258 has been great and even run the single player of Battlefront 1 fantastic. I ventured into multiplayer last night though and was getting about 25fps less than in single player.
This is single player, playing at 1080p AND recording through msi afterburner at the same time.. I thought that MP would be fine based on that but it must be more CPU intensive than I realised

The motherboard does support of with the g3258, multiplier and voltage.
Would this no longer be available if I did splash on a K sku i5?
Oh well if I NEED a Z class Mb there is no point in looking at a 4670K.. Seems strange when OC functionality is already there on the motherboard.
Going for a 4590 is about £60 lower than a 4670K and £40 lower than regular 4670.

OK so the question now becomes how much will a 4590S gimp performance compared with a 4590 regular.
If this rig last me 18 months as a stop gap then I'll be happy...and BF1 is likely to be the most demanding game I play.

looking forward to the quad core goodness now.
Am I right in say games like fallout 4 that my performance will be worse because the pentium is clocked about 300-500mhz faster in single core applications or will most games released over the last couple of years take advantage of HT / More cores?

I think after coming from the G3258, a K sku i5 would seem unremarkable...
The performance from stock speeds to what it can do at say 4.2Ghz is really remarkable even though its now being seriously found out in games that demand 4 physical cores.

Thanks Ill check that out tonight. I have OBS downloaded, but kept the settings standard... on the G3258 it didn't really play ball unsurprisingly!
Morning folks.. Just wanted to update this thread with some info.
I Installed the Core i5 4590 last night... and what a difference.
Even though on full chat, with all cores running it only clocks at 3.5ghz ( one or 2 cores allow a boost of 3.7Ghz) it comfortably passes up the G3258 in all synthetic and gaming benchmarks.
I was surprised that even on single threaded, older games, I was getting higher FPS.

I have been reading into that... I can still change the multiplier.. but im unsure if that is just forcing 1-2 cores at 3.7Ghz all the time or if it for all 4 cores.
3D mark gives a good indication of whats happening as you can see it stepping from single core performance to multicore when it clocks down to 3.5Ghz.
Ill keep an eye for cheap Z motherboards but its running very well on the H81M-P33 as it stands so I may be at the point of diminishing returns now.
