G4 Powerbook 17" output to 17" monitor??

When I mirror the display it takes up only the central portion of my monitor if I set the res to 1600x1200.

Shouldn't it be filling it? Its almost like its forcing widescreen?

You can't mirror onto a different sized screen, no? Set both to 1280x1024 and see what it does (presumably the res of your 17" monitor).

works in 1280x1024 but not 1600x1200.

I dont want to mirror really I just want to use the external screen.

Open Displays and click Arrangement. Follow the instructions. You don't want to set it to mirror, you want it as an extended desktop.

But I dont want to use the laptops screen anymore?

Go onto Display and then arrangement , and then move the toolbar from the screen to the external screen (hope that makes sense)

Yeah It does but I think I loose either the bar and the dock.. I'l play some more.
