Hello,
So as the title suggests I've bought the g403 (wireless) and g900 to compare and see which wireless mouse I prefer.
I'm coming from the g303 so I suppose this tells you I prefer smaller mice. My grip is claw grip and my hand length is 19cm, width 10cm.
I won't repeat what you can read / watch elsewhere (RocketJumpNinja), but my own limited impressions are:
- they weigh virtually the same: g403 106g (without the additional 10g in box) vs g900 108g - at least on my scales
- they feel completely different, which you'd expect I guess with one being suited for right handers, and one being ambidextrous. The g403 hump slots into my palm, and as it's shorter it suits my grip style. The g900 is longer with less of a hump and the buttons are higher up, so it definitely feels more suited to palm grips. I struggled with claw grip. Here's a photo to try and show the difference in length (lined up as much as I could):
- comparing it to my Razer DeathAdder, the g900 is actually longer! If I did want to go with a palm grip, and I had to pick over the DeathAdder and g900, I think I'd pick the DeathAdder due to the hump and the curved buttons - but maybe that's because I'm more used to the DA.
- the scroll wheel on the g900 feels like it requires noticeably more effort, whereas the g403 feels pretty much like the g303, maybe slightly less notchy.
- the mouse clicks and scroll wheel on the g900 are noticeable louder. The g403 is similar again to the g303 (quiet).
- there was no sound when shaking the g403 (unlike my g303), however when shaking the g900 you could hear the scroll wheel rattling away; which is fair enough given you can use it for side scrolling.
- I felt the g403 was slightly smoother and seemed to glide with less effort
- finally, wireless with no cable tugging / catching is brilliant!
- g403 wins it easy for me
David
