Recently noticed a sensitivity issue with my g5.

Am I right in thinking the red laser sensor usually goes brighter when it detects movement and dims down after a period of rest?

Are problems with the lasers a common fault?

A laser mouse does not have any visible light and my G5 certainly never showed any light. You are thinking about optical mouse that shows a red light to track movement.

This.

You are either seeing red lights or you don't have a G5.

I have a g5 and i can see the red laser. Just couldn't understand why the sensitivity switched to really low when i was gaming - pressing the on the fly dpi buttons made no difference either.

You do know of course that you can switch the sensitivity by using the two buttons at the top? You can change by how much through your set point software. Also depending on settings in games etc. your sensitivity might be different in games than in windows.

As stulid said there there are back lit weights, but the laser itself is not visible.

As i said before, the sensitivity switched from its normal setting to incredibly low completely at random when playing a game.
I hadn't caught any of the dpi buttons as even when i pressed them they made no difference to it's responsiveness.

Can the people who believe the laser isn't visible please pick your g5 off the desk and gently rotate it while looking down the sensor hole? That isn't a backlight for the weights, its a piercing red colour which can only be the laser.

mines has no colour, all there is, is a bit of light seepage from the weights slot

even when i put the mouse bottom near the palm of my hand, in darkness, theres nothing

I did not mean that you can see the laser on other surfaces what i meant was that you can actually see the laser if you look into the lense on the right side where it says laser you have to move the mouse about a bit to find it though
