Am I right in thinking that the G7 uses bluetooth to transmit from the base to the mouse? If so, will it interfere with my keyboard that I'm using over bluetooth?

No it uses rf, bluetooth isn't really used anymore because it's known to lag and interfere with other things like phones.

Ah ok, cheers.

Just a quick question, how come it has a USB dongle coming out of the base, what is it's purpose? Why has it been made to plug in seprately if it needs to be in all the time?

The thing that it plugs into is a charging station for charging one battery whilst you use the other. The reciever can be unplugged I presume so you can choose not to have the charger plugged in if you want. It could also be so you can have the reciever plugged into a different USB port if you want for whatever reason (perhaps your USB ports aren't supplying enough power for you to have the charger in boost mode and power the reciever at the same time). Generally, there really is next to no reason though tbh.

EDIT: my receiver's, been unplugged once since I bought it - when my mate stole it as a joke

From what I remember the logitech stations have the option to be plugged in by usb or or ps2, so there is a usb dongle which connects to the ps2 cable.
