Hi All,

After seeing so many nice builds around these days and some comments from various forums members I thought it would be fun to rebuild my rig in a way that is more efficient, tidy and perhaps better on the eyes. For a list of my current components, build pictures, and overclocking see my sig.

Below is a picture of my current build:

Some thoughts:

  • Allot of cables
  • The pumps look ugly
  • WAYYYY too much tubing. This gets really difficult to manage.
  • It's probably overkill (2 x 18W DDC pumps)
  • Black and white theme is cool, however I think just one colour will suffice

So after speaking with Cupra who has a similar setup, we both agreed that I could probably get away with a single loop which would remove allot of the tubing. I'm also going to use EK compression fittings for no other reason than they look boss.

Those are the major changes however I thought it would be easier to clarify these below:

1. Remove existing DDC18W pumps and XSPC bay res' and replace with a single Koolance Tank Reservoir + DDC18W.

The plan is to put the entire unit sideways into 2 X 5.25 slots. The max height for these is approx 88mm. Looking at the dimensions of the Koolance PMP-400 Pump 522L/hr with Koolance TNK Reservoir (W63 x L98 x H83 mm) it should just fit, providing me with enough clearance to use Velcro to secure the device and also prevent any vibration.

2. Next we have the compression fittings. The below design provides a better view however I'm thinking that the below EK fittings would work:

3. Replace old fans with 5 X Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1450

4. New lighting, I was thinking about using these:

However I'm at a loss at where I could position them (I was thinking about on the side door???)

5. EK backplates for my XSPC GTX480 full cover block

I believe these should fit however I am reluctant to speed more money on a graphics setup which will be replaced by kepler.

Finally, I thinking everything will fit into the new setup as follows:

I'm going to use this thread to bash out some ideas but also get your feedback as well.

Thanks for looking.

Thinking about the lighting, I think I need 2 12cm stripes on the back lip of the graphics block (for each block) and one 30CM strip on the lip of the rad at the top:

While I'm still in the brainstorming phase, I'm now toying with using the following:

Mayhems Pastel - Gigabyte Orange Coolant 1L

10X EK Water Blocks EK-PSC 13/10mm (3/8")

Finally 3/8" ID - 5/8" OD Clearflex 60 tubing as I really liked this look:

Still not decided but it seems like a nice option and it would match my UD7.

Small update. I have now ordered everything including 2 X Bitfenix branded molex extensions as I am anticipating the GPU light backing molex cables not being long enough to reach behind the motherboard tray. Instead of going with a different size tubing (the Clearflex does not come in 7/16ths) I decided to go with 7/16ths clear. It won't give me the shiny look as above but I think it makes it easier in the long run.

Next step will be to wipe 4TB of disk for the NAS install (this is going to take ages) and then start taking apart the build.

The total cost for this upgrade is now at £216!!!
