Hopefully you guys and the support team able to solve this error with my Asus G751J

I recently moved from Australia to United Kingdom, and Yesterday I unpacked my laptop for the very first time in seven months (had to be shipped). Battery was dead (fully charged when I left Ozz), so I let it to charge for 3 hours. When I started the PC it will go on for one sec then off again! So I then hold the power in for 10 (with adapter unplugged) secs and it loaded up to the desktop, BUTTTTT then A hour later it played up (downloading and updating) and I had to restart it! So then it went on and off repeatedly for 2mins until I hold the power in for a good 10 secs . hour later I turn it on again and it loading to the desktop (Yeahh). I was able to finnish the download and update. And it started again once it had to restart it to install the updates.

I'm trying to work out what is wrong with it. I hit the power and about an second later it goes off again with an ding, if it's like only less then 5 volts are used and not able to get to the CPU. I able to get it on and updated some software and OS but once off, it plays up again. I can get it to go if I keep on clicking the on power.

What it does that: I hit the power, it comes on and you can hear it and see LED lights on the front, however the lights on the keyboard does NOT come on, then that one sec or 2 sec it goes off with one ding noise.

It was working 100% before I left Australia, I tested the battery and when it was new it had 90,000 and now it has 80,850

My G751J did this - the battery is dead - the battery reports to the mainboard something is wrong with it so it powered off - I dismantled the laptop and replaced the battery and it starts up fine now - REALLY ANNOYING as it has some 'tech' in it that prevents it from running without a 'all is clear' battery signal.

Which annoys me even more is - once this battery dies and replacements become hard to find, you can't even run it without a battery off the power cable as the mainboard won't allow it.

Take the battery out and run it just on mains power and see how it goes. At least that way you can determine if its a battery issue.

edit: just seen above, crazy :)

What was your battery report if you did test the battery. Mine was 90,000 mWh when new now it's 80,940 mWh. Sucks that there is an system built in the board for that.

So how did you found out? and where did you get the new battery from and how much?

Dunno battery report, but windows reported everything to be fine, but the battery only charged 86% before it broke - the mWh isn't really accurate as the internal circuitry does what it wants regardless  :(

I googled around a lot - have a search.

The bay, refurbed, about £60? something like that

The most annoying part is dismantling the laptop - it requires complete dismantaling to change it.

REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY STUPID DESIGN ON ASUS'S PART

Its a great laptop, aside from the insane battery design choices.

God damn that! making things harder for me now, I'm trying my hard to look after it and now I have to try and take it all apart, even the monitor? Indeed it's stupid on the way to get it out, the design looks damn cool though

I had to go out for over an hour, Right! so my pc was off, came back turn it on and it worked :) so I have to double check if I want to go ahead or not

If its worked, just leave it for now! - Make sure you back up all your important files of course.

WHEN it breaks, yes it requires the entire thing be dismantled  you can't even get the battery out without removing the monitor as the bolts that hold it on also go through to *some* of the bolts for the battery, stupid design, especially as they programmed it to not work without a working battery - clearly they want people to pay silly amounts to service it later on - bad form on their part

Also to be honest, when my battery dies again - I'm honestly thinking about designing a simple circuit to report battery is ok (or something like that) to the mainboard so it will turn on and work fine, Asus need shooting in the face for designing it like it is - its a desktop replacement for christs sake - why they so precious about the battery !?!?!?!? Hell id not have even put one in there or at least allow it to run without a battery installed, uggh.

Any luck with the laptop Empire24453? it still working ok ? Hope so sir !
I have read your posts.

The update so far that it's going good, I keep the battery charged up at all times, Yet again when doing gaming I also keep it plugged in to get the most out power out of it.

It does still play up very little at times when turning it on but not as much as before and so that's good I guess.

Would also be cool that there is an program or away to set the system up so that you can run it without the battery, So if the battery dies then still able to run it off the power adapter. I will do anything to keep the Laptop (cost me an leg anyway) working and without the need to replace the battery as it's going to take all day to replace and it's going to be fun.

Shame that the Asus new 2016 laptops are the same :(

Hello again.

Where did you buy the battery from? I'm looking to get one but can't find one.

bump things up. New battery is in and still the same :(

I did testing and came up with nothing other then the laptop stays on without and ram installed to there slots.

Hey dude sorry just got back to this thread!

Ahh no sorry to hear that :( What happening with the ram you say ?

Right Here goes. I spent allot of hours and days working on it to save the cash and this is what I did.

One: replaced the battery
Two: The old thermal was dried up and so I added Arctic MX4
Three: Tested Ram on another PC and all good results
Four: reset and removed the bois battery

The Laptop goes on then off right after with Two Ram cards in. Without Ram it stays on longer but the CPU and GPU gets hot that it goes off and the FANS does not spin. Whatever it does that the fans doesn't spin

I then check the fans and they are clean (I haven't touched them) and looks alright. I double check all connection and it's all good. The drives are also good as it's not even loading up on the drives yet.

I'm thinking to take it into Ageek on Monday As I have no ideas what else it is other then an heat to cold error or Motherboard

Ac adaptor possibly, or the dc jack on/in the laptop itself. I have a dell/alienware m17xr3 which im having major issues sorting out a battery not recognised/incorrect ac adaptor/battery not charging problem. Have searched countless threads, bought a new battery, tried an alternative ac adaptor (albeit a lesser wattage one) from my m14xr2 and still haven't solved it. Next step for me is to try to get hold of another 330w ac adaptor and see if that helps. The forum threads often talk of even requiring a full mobo replacement!! Crazy right?

If the above doesn't work then I guess i'll have to lug it with me to Hong Kong or China and throw it at some soldering/electronics wizard!

It has new Battery, The AC is all good and it's charging all good with no errors.

Engineer has checked the power latch fault. The CPU has been tested as OK.
It is suspected that the Northbridge Chip is faulty. Unfortunately this part is not available from our suppliers and it means that the laptop would need a mainboard replacement.

Currently waiting to see if the part is available from our suppliers.
