SKUs :

GeForce 8800 GT : 112 SP, PCIe 2.0, PV3.0(VC1), 256-bit mem interface

GeForce 8800 GTS : 112 SP, PCIe 2.0, PV3.0 (VC1), 320-bit mem interface

GeForce 8800 GTX : 128 SP, PCIe 2.0, PV3.0 (VC1), 384-bit mem interface

GeForce 8800 Ultra : 128 SP, PCIe 2.0, PV3.0 (VC1), 384-bit mem interface

Nvidia has send out a notice to their AICs making clear to them not to market the new GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB as a card featuring 112 SPs although this should be quite a good selling point. Instead, card partners can brand the card as special edition or OC edition ie. GeForce 8800 GTS OC Edition. The new 112 SP 8800 GTS will still work fine with the 96 SP 8800 GTS in SLI configuration. Nvidia stress that they will not offer 112 SP 8800 GTS in 320MB memory configurations.

Interesting, looks like you can't lose if you get a new 8800 gts then. Has more SP's and retains the 320bit interface, quality :D 320mb cards on the way out then. Shame they only keeping the 640 mb though as they are pretty expensive :(

Wish there was more info on memory amounts though.

what memory amount info? they arent creating a 320mb gts, the others will have the same amount of ram. 640 or 768mb, GT will have 256/512mb.

I'm just hoping the prices are lower than the G90's cos £230 ish for 640mb gts is expensive. £190 would be much better.

Memory info = I meant whether there will be a 8800gts 512mb, or will that only apply to the 8800gt.

£190 would be good but I doubt it's gonna happen.

Nice lineup

I'm still hoping that the 9800 series will have been released by the time I put together a Penryn system but it's good to know that there will be a good midrange alternative to keep me going whilst I wait if it isn't.

so its just a 8800 refresh TBH. what a waste.....

Bring out 9800 please Nvidia :(

Onlything i can really see is PCI-E 2

So you prob won't need 2 12v cables on the GFX.

And the card will be smaller.

Dont u think the upgrade from a current GTX would be justifyable then ? TBH myself i dont think we'll see that much of a performance increase between the 2 revisions.

Not really. The new GTX might clock higher and run cooler but that's it. Not worth the money.

However, for me the new 8800 GTS looks very tempting or even a GTX.:D

i'm not saying this won't be true, but you should keep in mind the fact that VR Zone got almost everything wrong about the 2900xt, sku's, clocks, exact setup of pipes, power, die size, length, cost, everything.

also of note, they have stated for the last 2-3 weeks something different regarding what the new gts and gt are almost every single day, different each time. yesterday they put out the corrected specs of the specs they put up the day before, and those were different to todays.

vrzone has become little more than a joke, and is now on par with fud to be honest.

the size of cards will likely only charge noticeably on the lower mem bus cards. the gtx will likely stay the same, possibly get even more expensive(probably a trade off). remember a huge portion of the size of card and layers of pcb is down to the pinout for the mem bus which is huge, hence the stupid expensive pcb on the 2900xt and the drop to a lower bus and higher clocks and a thinner pcb. the problem with the gtx would be same pin out, but over a smaller die area, same number of traces to route, so card size needs the space for traces, but the area around the die now has to fit the traces connected to the pin out in a much tighter space which will be harder. the main thing with the gtx, is for nvidia, overall its cheaper, pcb comes out of the likes of xfx's money, the cores are their only concern and those will be cheaper to make. but its simply making a higher percentage off their expensive product, the speed difference will be minimal, even overlocked there won't be a huge difference. overclocking rarely means being able to play at a higher res, frankly, theres nowt the gtx can't play at top settings anyhow.

the new gt with lower mem bus should be the only noticeably smaller card, and should be cheaper. gts/gtx are just replacements and will probably be similar price to now, just larger profit margin for nvidia. the gt is obviously going to be aimed at fighting in the high/mid end crossover section. but frankly, nothing much will change till next gen.
