Hey, bought some stuff Wednesday, been tryin to get it workin since yesterday, initially booted up into Bios and I had a nice CPU temp of 23c constant, but after I plugged in the DVD and FDD its stopped displaying anything on screen -

I've plugged in a case speaker into the mobo and im not receiving any beeps whatsoever, ive only got the graphics card and cpu plugged in, nothing else, no ram/hdd etc - the graphics card fan is spinning constant and the HSF aswell, but no beeps at all.

Suggestions/help welcome thanks.

edit: sorry heres what i bought (picture of basket):

Just as I said in the other thread im in the same position as you. Its either the mobo or ram so if you havent got anything to test it with (like other ram) you're gonna need to RMA got no other choice I guess :(

I want to RMA the board but the Tuniq tower 120 plate on the underside of the board won't come unstuck lol

I had a similar problem (same mobo, ram and tuniq tower). I found if i pulled my tuniq tower up and pressed the power button then it would boot!

Odd eh??!

Ive now unscrewed one of the tuniqs screws more than the others so it is pushing up and now it boots. I think the mobo maybe bent.

oooooh rlllly????

Tony - in your scenario, did anything happen at all, fans spinning etc?

I'm getting power to everything, but no display to the screen.

:sigh: shall i unpack everything for a second time and set it up again, this time leaving the hsf screws looser - computer building was not intended for the lazy man :'(

I don't get how it could've possibly bent the board it's fastened tight to the mobo tray supports :/

Well it must be coincidence then... have you tried a different cooler?

im in a position where i cant troubleshoot the build to its full extent, i have no spare LGA775/PCI-E stuff lying around, so I've only got the components i bought wednesday to try ... it was an OEM chip so didnt come with a stock HSF :(

haha, the wires on the case speaker came off, and my soldering irons at work - gutted!

omg!!! its in the bios!!!

god knows what ive done, but ive got the motherboard out of the case, x2 ram modules in, cpu with the hsf attached but quite loosely, the gfx in (obviously) and thats it... i feel a lot happier, but i know as soon as i put it back in the case it'll die again, ill take it out, arse about with it for another 12 hours, have it work again, pretty good really.

...update: everything is plugged in and its maintaining the ability to stay in bios, though instead of the average cpu temp of 23c it had initially, it's at 28 and rising very slowly - obviously due to the loosening the hsf :(

hey mishima, actually posting on the new machine now as opposed to using my office computer... it failed to display anything on screen again, so I loosened the HSF even more and it booted *lol* wtf is wrong with this board and its ability to support a big heatsink

I'd just like to issue a warning to anyone using a DS3 board or variant, with a Tuniq Tower 120 or other large heatsink be careful to not screw it on too tight - infact, make sure its dangling off the board by a bit of string, haha.

hey nice one, glad you're all sorted. Strange that, but you are using a custom HSF - I wondered what you meant when you said you loosened the fan (cause you can't with the retail - what I have). Good news that though, enjoy!!
