so i got a GA-AX370-Gaming K7 currently with 48gb rom but i want to take the 2 8gb sticks out and replace with 2 32gb ones. but support for tho mb from 2018 says mb can only take 64 gb in total and list no 32gb dimms it accepts.

so can it actually take the 32gb sticks and the 2 16gb sticks its already got? i dont want to buy just to test as not fair on retailer i dont feel to do that.

bios is on F53d

Yeah, that's normal because they weren't available for sale.

Ryzen can support 32GB sticks from the 1st generation, so it is just down to the BIOS having support.

The BIOS support for Intel was added around Q1 2019. I don't know if/when it was added for Ryzen, unless they have always worked.

The speed you're going to achieve is another question.

ahh ram speed not so important, mine currently only run at 3000 and for ages they ran at 2400 and i never could notice a difference outside couple benchmarks.

its just im a tab hoarder, and use multiple browsers for different tasks so run out of gpu ram and when i start running low on normal ram get gpu crashes

Should be good then!

Chrome, say no more ;)

As much as it's widely believed that Chrome eats RAM, I've seen things suggesting that Chrome/Edge/FF/etc. all trade blows depending how many tabs you have open.

It's also very subjective depending which sites you have open.... I've seen FF use 13GB with just one tab open - Facebook after some doom-scrolling! (that was a while ago, it seems better these days but I'm currently using almost 3GB with FB, Youtube, forums and a google search open).
Not to mention other background processes as well as just how much total RAM you have (I have 64GB and 20GB VRAM, so wouldn't expect Windows to be particularly careful about allocating it, but if I was close to limits then I assume it would clean some stuff up!)

@mark2410 - 2x32 will run fine more than likely, do you need more than 64GB? - If not then I'd personally ditch the rest and just have the 2x32, as you'll likely be able to run them both at full speed rather than JDEC, mixing and matching RAM kits can be troublesome!

As TrojanWhore has said, do that. You can mix RAM but 32gigs is enough and will be faster by itself.

Also, if you haven't already, do a BIOS update. That should help with memory stability and performance as the manufacturer will add better variables for voltages and so on.

Also checkout this DDR4 overclocking guide to help improve primary timings for a nice performance boost - AM4 liked lower latency RAM so it's worth the effort.
