Hey
I know this is an older board (gigabyte) but its served me well over the
years. I plan to upgrade in six months but in the mean time, thought id
try to OC it, especially now that i encode video.
My Specs:
GA-EP35C-DS3R (rev 2.1)
Q6600 Intel Cpu (go stepping)
Gelid tranquillo heatsink (rev1)
GeIL 4GB (2x2048MB) PC2-6400 800Mhz Black Dragon Dual Channel Kit
Real Power M700
XP PRO 64BIT
Setting:
@3.2 @ 1.36v FSB=355, CPU (355x9) Memory (355x2)
Problem:
CPU can overclock to 3.0 @ stock volts (1.275) and survive a lengthy burn-in.
@ 3.2 system is fine when Idle. Folding@home stress test causes blue screen.
As i understand it, you tend to increases vcore first until
OC is stable at load. Tried doing this, all the way up to
1.36v. However, easytunepro6 reports vcore at 1.23 -1.26. But thats the
same whether OC at load was at 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, etc.
Even taking vdroop into consideration i have a feeling that something is
wrong. Is there a setting or fail-safe that i didnt disable?
Could the board be faulty?
Images:
2.4 Idle
3.0 @ 1.275v Load
3.0 @ 1.3v Load
Final:
Its frustrating as i can tell just looking at temps that i have a decent
amount of headroom left in the old girl. Im sure 3.4 is achievable.
Any advice would be appreciated.
