I just updated from the factory set bios on my rev 2.0 board to the latest bios. I've noticed my system temp has remained at 33C, but the cpu temp has suddenly gone up to 45 to 48C idle, and it had been consistently at 36 to 39C. Could this be that the original bios was not accurate? I've always verified temps on both bios's with both easytune6, and in the actual bios. I'm wondering if I should reflash back to original? Only reason I flashed was to get the EC firmware addition to bios for unlocking cores. Also, options on EC Firmware are 'latest' and 'version 0.82', it's currently set to latest as default. But there's nothing about 'Hybrid'. Do I need it to say hybrid for unlocking? I also have the Advanced clocking control in bios.

From overclock.net:
"The Unlocking Process
In terms of unlocking your “defective” cores, the process is actually very simple.
Enter BIOS.
Set Automatic Clock Calibration (ACC) to AUTO.
CRUCIAL step for Asus and Gigabyte owners : Enable "Unleashing" or change "EC Firmware" mode to "Hybrid"
Reboot."

Also, about the bios updates. Why does my system info say 20/4/09, but it says 12/8/09 on gigabyte site?

EDIT: I reflashed to an earlier bios FB, date is correct, and hybrid is there now. Temp still higher.

They may have just adjusted the calibration of the temp sensor, it may have been innacurate before. I wouldn't worry too much if the temps are still in the safe range.
The other possibility is if you're running the CPU cooler on smart fan mode, the profile in the new bios might be a bit different, ramping up the fan later.

I just checked the bios, cpu smart fan was/is enabled, and smart fan mode is set to auto, options being PWM, Voltage and auto. I'm guessing the addition of EC firmware to this bios might have something to do with temps or as you said, it may have been wrongly calibrated before. I just liked seeing temps in the 30's, I've never had that with my previous pc. :p

I tried unlocking the cores by setting ACC and hybrid, bios updated firmware, but I couldn't get past the windows normal/safe mode screen so I reverted the hybrid to normal and disabled ACC. I've now posted in the overclocking forum for some voltage suggestions, if that's what is needed.
