In the bios I have set my processor to 7x 233 after a previous clock of 280x7 got around 80degrees when playing gears of war, yet after setting my clock to 7x233 in the bios (I figured this would be just 7X233, which would give 1631MHz) the clock speed is showing as 2.1GHz in windows vista computer system and SiSoftware Sandra =/ Should I be changing any other settings in the bios so that the speed should be what I'm looking for?

These programmes use the default multiplier for your processor ie 8 x, try CPU-Z this
should read the correct multiplier.

Downloaded Cpu-z, now showing 1.6Ghz thanks ;), though I am looking to get this overclocked and is it best to increase the frequency or the multiplier, and if my default multiplier is 8X should I go back to this with a low frequency? (what's the stock freq/multi btw?)

E2160 = 1.8Ghz = 200FSB with a 9 multi. :)

Always best to increase the FSB, as then you benefit from higher bandwidth as well.

The CPU doesn't really care if it's overclocked with a high FSB on a lower multi or a lower FSB on a higher multi. It will still be the same performance wise for a given Mhz however you get to it.

Higher FSB gives higher overall performance in memory bandwidth intensive tasks though, but to be honest there isn't an awful lot in it, nothing that you'd really notice outside of benchmarking IMO.
