Has anyone else experienced problems trying to use IDE burners on this motherboard? I keep getting a "communication" error on trying to burn.

I have an IDE DVD burner in my P35C-DS3R and did have a problem burning disks after I did a clean install of XP a few weeks ago. I hadnt noticed that in Device Manager both of my optical drives were listed as SCSI devices. I would check to see if you have the same problem then if so I can talk/type you through sorting it out.

Just been searching through trying to sort this exact problem on a mates pc :P Could you possibly let me know how you sorted it please :)
Thanks in advance

Go into Device Manager>Select IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers>Select Primary IDE Controller>Advanced and see if Transfer Mode is set to DMA or PIO.

The P965 Gigabytes sometimes had the same issue and it was because the Transfer Mode was set to PIO instead of DMA.

Sorry for the long wait on the reply :p
Dma is ticked, so its on. The drives do however show up as scsi, Ive recomended he formats with the cables in the right places and checks from there, as there are a few other issues arrising, possibly down to the socket switching on the sata connectors. (vista found them again but who knows)
Should the sata connector be in the PURPLE or ORANGE slots so that we know for when we reformat.
THanks for all your help.

I assume you have installed the JMicron drivers?

And put the SATA drives onto the Intel orange slots.
