Hi

Would you guys send your motherboard back if it behaved like this?

DRAM Voltage problems

Setup
GA-P35C-DS3R (F10 bios was used)
Q6600 (STOCK COOLER)
2GB OCZ PLATINUIM REV 2
HIPER TYPE R 580W PSU
SATA HD X 2
SATA SAMSUNG DVD-RW
6800GT
AKASA INTERNAL CARD READER

First Problem

The board is undervolting the Memory modules.

Second Problem

Memory voltage gradually goes back to 1.76v when shut down and mains disconnected

Example:-

The voltage gradually increases back to the set voltage when the computer is turned back on

Example:-

This is monitored over about 25 mins.

i reverted back to bios version f9 and problem 2 seems to have improved slightly it only drops to 1.88v now when shut down and main disconnected overnight, so would you guys live with these problems or return the board and buy an asus or something similar

thank you
Craig

I am using the same board and find that my dimms are being reported to get 1.92v when I have set +0.3v above the 1.8v std.

Whether that is the actual voltage or not I'm not sure as I am relying on monitoring software and not via a meter, if that was possible.

I have four dimms, as you can see from my sig, and, I have not had a problem with the memory even though four sticks are being used.

Even though you have noted the above as a 'problem' you have not noted what issues you are experiencing because of this..?

hi

When i was using F10 bios i could not set my ram to the correct timing 4-4-4-15 as i got bsod while loading windows after overnight power off because the voltage was dropping to low to power the modules. This seems to be ok with F9 as the voltage is only dropping to about 1.88 but my problem is the board is not workings as it should and its my second board, the first one i got would not post so im kinda loosing confidence in gigabyte. I have also been in contact with gigabyte tech support and they reckon its a hardware fault with the board.

Cheers

ah I see, now I understand why you are concerned rather than simply curious :)

I am on my third board now and, as this one is faulty...

I can't imagine that I would buy another, if indeed it needs to be RMA'd.

I was considering an Asus P5KC as that seems to be comparable to my board but, hopefully, without the issues that have compromised this board that I have used.

I think, from what you have written, that you are almost to the point of giving up with that board and ready to move on. As you already appreciate it is where to move to that can be the dilemma..!
