GA-P35C-DS3R (rev. 2.0)

got mine last 2 weeks ago it was v1.1 came with F2 bios which i'm still using with a E6750 at 3.3Ghz and artic cooler pro and 2 gig of mem, all working great

Got mine a while back and it's rev 1.1, F2 BIOS (too lazy to flash) not had any problems with it at all seems rock solid with sig specs. Just make sure you use the latest drivers from thier website.

i used the motherboard disc, worked fine then found out about the gigbyte download center that scans your PC and it only found a INF file, currently using Vista

I'd deffinatly consider flashing those F2s to atleast F5b or higher as the memory performance on newer BIOS is increased a good deal... talking 20+% higher RAM read speeds...

Would prefer to get a rev. 2 board as it looses the old COM port etc. for the extra USB ports on the back plate.

i like the spec of this gigabyte board. its cost is low yet it seems to have quality components like the solid capacitors, ferrite core chokes etc.

is it the best board for the c2d in its price range of sub 80 quid mobos?

I don't know about the best board... but its deffinatly the most stable board I've ever played with and installing/setting up on it was a dream... also overclocks like a charm - CPU is the weak link on this board...

The only downside to the P35 DS3 series seems to be the RAM performance which on the default BIOS is way behind 975 and 680i boards - but the latest BIOS version seems to sort that out...

It's the only one I would buy at the moment in that price range. I'm sure it has it's downfalls but the others do as well, such as the Asus P5K uses ludicrious amounts of power for some unknown reason, and the IP35-E runs it's LAN over the PCI lanes so it has much lower transfer rates. I just overall find the Gigabyte board to be the highest quality board around the price range in terms of performance, build quality and design.

I just wish the Gigabyte had a CMOS reset switch on the motherboards back panel :/

Wheres the best place t get these bios version? Or are the picked up automatically via the update software?

You can download the latest version through the update software... while I've never had a problem using the update software to flash - you might want to do it the old fashioned way and create a bootable floppy disc to flash from...
