Hi

Could someone please list the voltages from a program such as speedfan as my motherboard is listing weird values. Both the BIOS and Easy Tune say the +12V line is OK but most other tools list it as a very low value (will add more info later as currently at work).

Could this be caused my some software not fully supporting the IT8718F chip or have gigabyte wired it up in a non-standard way?

Cheers

You can't really trust the readings from either the BIOS or software the only way is to check with a multimeter.

By weird I mean somewhere around +2v for the +12v rail which lead me to believe it's not reporting correctly as I don't think the board would POST at that voltage. I'll update when I get home later and hunt down my multimeter.

Cheers

That definately is weird :) You should try checking the voltages in the BIOS when you get home, it will be more accurate than software monitors.

Here is the full machine spec:

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA1065)
Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
Lian-Li PC V1000 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower - Black
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Samsung SH-S203BEBN 20x20 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

The BIOS only lists on the 'PC Health Status' page whether the +12V rail has passed or failed and I get a PASS

No it only has the PC Health Status and that only gives a pass or fail on selected voltages. Everything is running stable with idle coretemp readings of 38-42 across all cores.

Speedfan reading as below (everest and sandra give similar readings)

VCore1: 1.22V
VCore2: 2.22V
+3.3V: 3.31V
+5V: 4.87V
+12V: 2.30V
-12V: -16.97V
-5V: -8.58V
+5V: +5.03V
Vbat: 3.20V

Easytune5 is giving the following readings:

VCoreA: 1.230
+3.3V: 3.310
+12V: 11.850
CPU Vid: 1.270

Does anyone have the same board who can run speedfan and see when the readings show?

Any hints on testing the PSU using a voltmeter such as which pins to connect to power it up without being plugged in the motherboard?

Cheers

if there isnt any problems then chances are its working just fine and that 11.85 is right, speedfan sometimes reads things wrong, the easytune will read it from the same thing as the bios does probably.

Yeah, hoping that it is just caused by a revision of the sensor chip (IT8718F-A) which some software doesn't read correctly.

Just looking for confirmation that other peoples boards are displaying the same for piece of mind :-)

Get your multimeter out, and use your ATX connector to test them (that's the big one on the motherboard).

Test each colour, with + on the colour and - on the black.

Orange = 3.3V
Red = 5V
Yellow = 12V

Should be getting readings close to what they're meant to be.

Edit: Whoops, might be nice to tell you how to turn it on ;) Connect the green wire to ground (any black wire) to turn it on, and disconnect them to turn it off.

Checked voltages with a multimeter and everything looks good.

Now just need to get my Tuniq Tower seated properly. I'm getting 42:42:37:38 idle across the cores which is exactly the same as the stock cooler was giving :-(

Thanks for all the help
