Hi guys,
I have the GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard with latest bios. My problem is, that I cannot achieve usb 3.0 speed. I have usb 3.0 enable in bios, installed drivers, I can see them installed in device manager. But every time I connect usb 3.0 hard drives to usb 3.0 ports, I am getting message that connect to usb 3.0, so device can perform faster. Speeds are 38MB/sec on both my hard drives...seems like limiting speed from mb. On laptop I getting 70-80MB/s, so my hard drives are fast enough.

Funny you should say that because I got the same message when I plugged a USB 3.0 flash drive into my case usb 3.0 ports. Plugged it directly into the motherboard on the rear panel and got full speed. I need to look into that at some point to see what's happening.

Not sure if it's like my Asus p55 motherboard, but I can only have one of the following enabled at a time:

x16 PCIe slot
USB 3.0
SATA 6.0GB/s

I upgraded to this board for USB 3 thinking it would future proof me, then finally when USB 3.0 started coming onto the market I was wondering why my speeds were really slow. Turns out that was it and I had to make the PCIe slot x8 instead of x16.

Also with USB 3.0 enabled instead it made my overclock really unstable so I had to go back to stock CPU speed as well.

I have not been able to get usb 3.0 speed out of it. Is usb 3.0 controller card gonna solve my problem or am I doomed because of MB limitations?

Have you installed the usb 3.0 software ? have you got that running under processes ? Renesas(NEC) USB 3.0 Driver
It could be that it's kind of tacked on rubbish like the sata 3 controller is slower than the sata 3 speeds because it doesn't support trim.
