ga-x99-ud4 lost RAID after updating bios

So I just updated my mobo to the latest bios using the @BIOS utility.

Upon restart, the RAID was no longer recognised, and intel rapid storage technology would no longer boot.

I updated IRST with the version on the gigabyte website, and now it is half working.

It sees two of the drives as still being in the raid array, but the other 2 drives are "status:missing".

It things the serial number of one drive is 43KNL0GBS:0

However the *actual* serial number is 43KNL0GBS. IRST does see the drive, but doesn't recognise it as being part of the array.

I have tried downgrading my bios unsuccessfully, gigabyte doesn't seem to want you to roll back versions. I can't figure out how to get the dualbios option to work either, as my backup bios *might* still be the original image.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

You know when it boots up just before the BIOS does it say something like to enter the intel raid BIOS press ctrl+I (or something like that) then if the drives are visible there can you reassign them to the raid array that way (without deleting all the data).

Yeah I can get into that menu OK.

the options are
1. create RAID volume
2. delete RAID volume
3. reset disks to non raid
4. recover volume options (hashed out and cant select)
5. acceleration options (hashed out and cant select)

Is it one of those? I don't want to poke around and do something irreversible..

I dont know as I've never had to do it, I have a feeling the first option will delete the array data and start again.

Sure upgrading the BIOS didn't reset the BIOS settings, including setting the storage interface from RAID back to ACHI ?

Might be helpful if you describe what your RAID setup was, as then people might be able to advise how to recover. eg RAID1 configurations are usually easier to get back than RAID0.

Yeah I changed it back from ACHI back to RAID, but it hasn't fixed it. I went through the other bios settings and couldn't see anything that might affect it.

It's a 4 drive raid 10 array. There are 2 other drives in there too (non-raid), and they are being accessed just fine.

I gave up trying to flash the bios back to an older version.

It seems if you boot into windows when the controller is set to ACHI and not RAID (which it defaults to after updating BIOS), then the RAID gets corrupted anyway.

However I am using a software called TESTDISK, which allows me to see all the files in the RAID. I'm currently backing them up to another drive - so far, so good.
