GA-Z68AP-D3 Ethernet not being detected

It works out of the box without any disc needed. Although I think it does update, I know this as I have the board. You could try a driver from the website:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3897#dl

But as I said, I know it does not help but Win 7 anyway detects the driver during install. Did you try to update the bios for the mobo? Software is on the CD as well to do that.

I updated from F2 to F3, F3 to F4 all in a vein hope to get the ethernet working. No drivers can detect it, nothing can find it regardless of which OS. I'm so stuck.

Only other thing is, I take it you have net axxs as you are typing here. Download a Ubuntu live cd. Burn it and it will boot straight into a working desktop, you do not have to install anything. Just boot from CD and it will work, if the internet does not work on that. It is RMA time for that mobo I reckon.

That is the last resort, but if a Ubuntu live CD does not detect the ethernet then I see no option.

I know Win 7 and Ubuntu detect the ethernet on these boards just fine.

Tried Ubuntu, same problem, doesn't even recognize that there is an unrecognized device. It's like the motherboard has disabled it or something :S.

Can you reset the cmos to see if something is stuck somewhere? I am not sure how but I think it has a jumper somewhere, should be in the mobo book. Not looking to hopeful though I am afraid :(

I reset the BIOS via the BIOS, but you're right that's something I've yet to try :S that idea totally escaped my :S. Report back soon. Cheers.

dd you see a mac address in the bios? if so chances are its software realated,if not then probably mb's nic is faulty

Reset CMOS same problem, no mac in bios, assuming board is faulty. Just gonna buy a new ethernet card. Cheers for help guys.

Hold alt and f12 at bios splash screen,it will copy back up BIOS chip with main BIOS chip version so both have same BIOS,then see if you get mac address

Excuse me Gents, I'm both new to this forum & a silver surfer, also not a great deal of PC knowledge.

I think that I have this same MB BIOS Z68AP-D3 F3 & also had the same problem (Maybe) I had the PC from OCUK however I used my own Windows OS after the install of OS & MB drivers etc I was surfing the net fine, once I'd installed every update which included I think it was called the Realtek something or other, after which I couldn't get on the Internet at all. I knew it must have been some problem related to the update I also knew this Realtek Gizmo had been updated. I solved this through uninstalling networking adapters in Device manager & rebooting the PC after which I installed the missing driver from the Gigabyte CD & made sure I didn't allow any further Realtek update to this device.

Like I say, I'm an oldie with very little PC knowledge, so in advance if my response is incorrect then very I'm sorry.
