GA-Z68XP-UD3 GPU Compatibility

Hi,
Motherboard is a GA-Z68XP-UD3.
CPU is a i5-2500k
Potential new GPU is a 78/7950.

The Gigabyte website says the PCI-Ex16 slots support PCI rev 3.0 BUT only with a 22nm CPU...

Does this mean I need a new CPU/Motherboard for the new GPU? :mad:

No it should just mean that it wont work to its full potential and will be "bottlenecked" by the older bigger nm cpu's I think . . .

I wouldn't worry too much bout pci-e3 speeds,you'd only see slight difference in tri sli/xfire cards and super res,your card will just run at pci-e2 bandwidth

PCI-E2.0 16X is fine.
