ok have a pc with one of these boards i turn it on the lights come on and cpu fan spins for about 10 secs....then fan stops....and then tries to spin again...then it will turn off but come on by its self and do the same like its in a loop....ive tried the usual different power supply memory ..one stick of memory onboard graphics.

Has anyone got i idea on this ...personally i suspect the board as its not giving any beeps whats so ever even when no memory in or that...thanks

what memory and psu brand?

tried flicking power switch on psu off as soon as fans spin? do that three times and let pc powerup normally

so as soon as you press front power button and hear fan start to spin switch off as fast as you can on psu switch

power supply is a zalman....memory is Avexir MPower Yellow Series....but ive tried corsair and kingston aswell and ive tried the power switch what you suggested and it just does the same...

ive seen issues with avexir on one z77 gigabyte board, anyway you can test with a different psu just to rule it out?

also done a long cmos/battery removal

ok ill take battery out and leave over night......as ive tried a different power supply already....but im wondering if there are no beeps at all if it is the board what do you think...

is their a mb speaker attached?

its hard to say, checked cpu socket for bent pins? I think you've done all you can with different psu's and memory

can see what overnight cmos clear does and check for any bent pins

id still try the power switch flicking aswell as its hard to get right,it envokes the backup bios to re write the main bios chip

ohh

tested with onboard graphics and no gpu installed?

could be badly borked bios or cmos, and simply could have developed a mb fault

it might not be booting up far enough to start beeping idk

yes onboard without gpu in.....ive just found out that the electric had tripped and since then it has stopped working....thet to me sounds like it could be a few things

yh,can kill the psu sometimes ive had it happen once

can badly bork the cmos

and I wouldn't rule out killing the board

unplug any hdd/ssd also and usb devices just incase its damaged any of those and preventing it posting

BIOS Recover Method Via Manually Invoking BACKUP BIOS Auto-Recovery
Using Power Supply - On/Off Switch

It is possible to make the BIOS Auto-Recovery kick in (Dual BIOS) and re-flash the MAIN BIOS with the contents of the BACKUP BIOS.

This is a simple and easy method for anyone to try before having to resort to other more difficult methods, or a RMA.

1. Shut off the power supply using the switch on the back of the PSU, wait 10-15 seconds.
2. Press and hold the case Power On swtich, then while still holding turn on the power supply from the switch on the rear.
3. Still holding the case power on switch, the board will start, once it does release the case power on switch and shut off the power supply via the switch on the read of the unit. (Do the latter two parts as quickly as you can once the board starts)
4. The board will shut down.
5. Turn the power supply back on using the switch on the rear of the unit.
6. Turn on the motherboard by pressing the case power on button.

Once the board starts this time you should see the Gigabyte splash screen, or POST page, then the Auto-Recovery from Dual BIOS will kick in. You will see a checksum error, and then recovery from BACKUP BIOS will begin. Once it is done reboot your machine and enter the BIOS and load optimized defaults then save/apply/reboot back to BIOS.

Now you are done, and will be using whatever BIOS was in your BACKUP BIOS, From there you can attempt whatever you were previously trying, or update your BIOS to the latest version.

Did you get anywhere with this issue? My gigabyte z77 matx board has similar issues. It tried to power up, flickers and fans go then stops. It went through a phase of doing it but then powering on fine. I've done the paper clip test on the psu and tHats fine. I've swapped the power panel/switch on the case and still get htr issue.

I've resigned to the fact it's likely the motherboard and am about to order a new board. Seems a waste to spend 60quid on a board for older tech, but can't justify a replacement board and CPU.
