SOLVED: GA-Z97X-SLI sound problems in Linux

Hi
Just completed new build (thanks to advice from this forum).
Everything running like a dream in Win7.
All runs fine in Linux EXCEPT sound - terrible distortion through the speakers, OK through the headset. Tried Ubuntu and Opensuse as well as my permanent system Arch.

So this appears to be a Linux issue.

This is onboard Realtek ACL1150.
Anyone using this motherboard under linux?

running latest mb bios?

any sound drivers for Linux? sorry no clue with that os

I'm runninmg the latest BIOS and sound driver from the Gigabyte website.

I came across references to realtek acl1150 issues running on linux but I can't find them now.
Hoping someone else is running linux and I can find out if he / she has sorted the sound problem.

I found a workaround for my linux sound problem at this link
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1321421.

This article says that a kernel fix is required to permanently fix the problem.
I did not get into the details.

So problem solved.
I'm marking this closed.
