gainward 580 gtx Problems

The gpu needs a 8 pin and a 6 pin to run. Problem is the connector isn't the standard motherboard 8 pin one otherwise i would have taken the 8 pin connected to the board and switched it over for a 4 pin whilst i wait for the cable like the motherboard manual suggests.

I have contacted gainward about the cable to try and get one quicker from them and am unsure whether its the same socket for all 580's or not.

Also the usual 6 pin to 8 pin converters have one of the squares that is curved instead of a square meaning the cable cannot unfortunately fit (in the case of ******- Thanks for the idea though tut!)

The other issue is sellers don't seem to take photos of the cables end so i can't clarify that the cable i am buying will work.

I have found only one supplier so far of the exact one I need but he has estimated 20-32 working days for delivery.

So i have what some would consider the most powerfuil graphics card in the world at this moment in time and its sitting in my drawer! Awaiting a cable!

I will try ******* today as i can't think of anywhere else to look!

This is the one i need.

No competitor links!

Also why don't you think of add on purchases and tell people, oh you might need one of these cables to run it?

I didn't buy it here but if other people are buying it and need to cable why doesn't overclockers try and sell them the power cable when they buy the item?

Also please improve the photos for your cables so you can clearly see each end of the cable so you know what your buying.

Thanks!

Depends what PSU you have got, I know mine the PCI cables are 6+2 pin connectors for this situation. Not to sound overly harsh but it's your own fault really, these things are easy to check prior to purchase.

Also as above, would remove link and competitor name from your post.

you need to be very careful with what connector your trying to plug into your graphics card.

An 8pin Mobo connector if fitted onto the gfx card will no doubt fry it. The pin-outs will be different.

You need to check that your psu can even supply the juice to run the 580, as i will surprised if it does that it didnt come with the nessecary cabling to do the job. I mean graphics cards which require 6/8 pin connectors have been out for a couple of years as far as i can remember.
